Background: Increasing referrals for transgender youth demonstrated a lack of local interprofessional comprehensive programs for transgender youth. Pediatric endocrine clinics across Canada have collaborated with other disciplines to provide increasingly comprehensive assessment and treatment programs for transgender youth.

Objective and hypotheses: Share a case study of a Canadian youth’s experience with the Gender Dysphoria Assessment and Action for Youth (GDAAY) program. Review of pediatric endocrinology nurses roles within interdisciplinary teams in assisting youth through gender transition across Canada.

Method: Review a case from first referral through telephone triage, intake, diagnosis and treatment with the support of the pediatric endocrine nurse.

Results: An interprofessional team approach to gender dysphoria assessment and action for youth is a leading model of care for other clinics across the country.

Conclusion: Canadian youth with gender dysphoria have increasing access to assessment and treatment programs through local interprofessional clinics with pediatric endocrinology nurses across the country.
