Children with Type 1 Diabetes and their families Satisfaction with Healthcare Services

Patient satisfaction is of increasing importance and is widely recognized as an indicator of quality of medical care. The aim was to assess children with type 1 diabetes and their families Satisfaction with Healthcare Services.

Methods: The study was conducted at Pediatric outpatient clinic, Suez Canal University Hospital, Ismailia Egypt. Eighty children diagnosed with type 1 diabetes for at least 1 year. They were interviewed to obtain their baseline data and assess their satisfaction using short form of patient satisfaction questionnaire (PSQ-18).

Results: Patients satisfaction was significantly associated with short waiting time, absence of overcrowding and good ventilation of the place. The top three domains included communication, technical quality and interpersonal manner domains with scores 4.06± 0.39, 4.02±0.35 and 3.97±0.45 points respectively. On the other hand, the functional domain had the lowest score among the seven domains (6.2±2.52 points). The financial domain was the least satisfactory domain. Conclusion more than half of our patients and their families were satisfied with Healthcare Services.
