Background: Mauriac syndrome, a rare complication of type I diabetes mellitus (T1DM) results from inadequate glycemic control and excessive insulin therapy. Fluctuating plasma glucose, excessive insulin and glucose administration stimulate glycogen synthase, causing glycogen accumulation in the liver.
