Background: The pseudohypoparathyroidism (PHP) encompasses a heterogeneous group of clinical entities caused by a defect in the peripheral action of parathyroid hormone (PTH). Biochemically it manifests itself with hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia and elevated PTH.
