Introduction: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is the loss of ovarian activity before the age of 40. POI presents with amenorrhea, hypergonadotropic hypogonadism and infertility. POI can be a part of a syndrome or in isolation and affects up to one in 100 females, including one in 1000 before the age of 30.
