Amiodarone induced hyperthyroidism is a known side effect of amiodarone treatment. In the pediatric population long-term amiodarone treatment is rarely indicated because of its severe side effects including thyroid function impairment and therefore treatment is restricted to therapy resistant arrhythmias.
